UNIGIS INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION provides an environment for collaboration. UNIGIS INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION members are principal investigators or consortium members in numerous educational and research projects; an overview of selected current and completed projects is given below.


CEEPUS

 

 

 

CEEPUS: Applied Geoinformatics
CEEPUS stands for "Central European Exchange Program for University Studies". Its main activity is to operate joint programs through university networks that ideally lead to joint degrees. CEEPUS covers mobility grants for students and teachers in this framework. The proposed CEE-GIS course framework builds on experience from the UNIGIS programme jointly offered by several partner institutions since 1993/4, the European Masters in GIScience “EMGISc” (29320-IC-3-98-1-AT-ERASMUS-CDA-1 ff – Erasmus project coordinated by Salzburg University), and the respective diploma / masters programmes taught according to the given national and institutional frameworks.

Geographic Information Science and Technology in Croatian Higher Education
GIST-CroHE (CD_JEP-41174-2006) is a TEMPUS III project focusing on curriculum development in GISc&T at MSc level for the Faculty of Geodesy at the University of Zagreb and together with Jagiellonian University in Cracow and Salzburg University as the grant holder. This two year project started on September 1, 2007. The consortium members are also members of CEEPUS and/or UIA.




 

InterGIS
InterGIS is a multipartner project focusing on fostering International Cooperation for GIScience Education among the institutes of higher education in the European Union and South Asia. The main objectives of the project are developing a standard GIS curriculum and train teachers and students at all partners institutions.

European Masters in GIScience
Students registered in a UNIGIS programme are able to qualify for the EuroMasterGI, a European post-graduate qualification that offers a specifically international add-on qualification for professionals active in the field of Geographic Information.

Land Information Management for Executives
One successful EU founded project, LIME was prepared in co-operation with other UNIGIS sites and GISIG on Issues of EU harmonization and Knowledge pool developments. The project has produced a new course for a new profession called Assistant in Land Information Management.
