Typically one collaborative project is undertaken during the MSc programme. Students work in small virtual groups; each group member is assigned a specific role. A group selects a topic to debate and research; members work together in a joint intellectual effort to solve the task. Collaborative Discussion, a development made viable through electronic communication, is a key part of this process.

The main goal here is to organise group work in a distributed environment. In doing so students are expected to garner experience from collaborative discussion as well as apply methods of project management and use the respective tools. The deliverables for each collaborative project are a project report, the group’s discussion forum (e.g. a project handbook or a weblog), and an evaluation of the process based on a structured set of questions. Discussions are supervised and the outcomes are assessed by the faculty.
