Students are required to complete one collaborative project as a compulsory part of the MSc programme. Students work in small virtual teams and each team member has a specific task / role. Each team selects a topic to debate and research; members work together in a joint intellectual effort to solve the task. Collaborative Discussion, a development made viable through electronic communication, is a key part of this process.
The main goal of this exercise is to organise a team-work in a distributed environment. In doing so students are expected to garner experience from collaborative discussion as well as apply methods of project management and use the respective tools. The deliverables for each collaborative project are a project report, the group’s discussion forum (e.g. a project handbook or a weblog), and an evaluation of the process based on a structured set of questions. Discussions are supervised and the outcomes are assessed by the faculty incharge.
