Compulsory modules (1-7) are designed to lay the foundations of GISystems through several topics i.e. modelling, structures and acquisition of geodata to develop a geoDBMS and performing spatial analysis for visualisation and apply it in the practical fields. Elective modules (8) like applications of GIS in forestry, coastal zone research and management, mountain environments etc. tailor the programme to the needs of students. A combination of elective subjects with International summer schools or workshops and a collaborative project contribute to students’ personal and professional development and enhance communication skills. A detailed description of the course structure is avaibale in the Curriculum (§13-§14 of Mitteilungsblatt No 127” issued on 23rd May, 2007).
